IESC Announces Tarek Nabhan International Achievement Award Winner – Chrishan Pereira
June 11, 2019
Every year, IESC recognizes individuals whose dedication and service have truly made an impact on the lives and livelihoods of people around the world. The Tarek Nabhan International Achievement Award was established in 2013 to recognize staff members in the field who go above and beyond their normal job responsibilities to achieve excellence. The award is named after Tarek Nabhan, in honor of his 31 years of service to IESC.
For 2018, IESC recognized Chrishan Pereira, IESC’s Career Development Director, for his role on the YouLead program, ensuring access to better career paths and career guidance for over 90,000 youths in Sri Lanka. Mr. Pereira plays a significant role in the development and implementation of the YouLead program, putting to use many of the previous skills he acquired as an educator. Whenever something needs to be done, Chrishan is always the first to assist and direct every task. His colleagues said, “No job is too big or too small for Chrishan.” From gaining the support of the Ministry of Education and local government agencies, to implementing Sinhala and Tamil career testing, Chrishan consistently goes above and beyond to ensure YouLead is making an impact. He has engaged with Microsoft in Sri Lanka to create a network for youths (YouthWorks) and continuously demonstrates his technical and operational expertise. His efforts have contributed to the great impact of the YouLead program on IESC’s beneficiaries in Sri Lanka. Chrishan is a committed educator and development expert, creative thinker, and an excellent problem solver, and the YouLead program has benefited tremendously from his hard work and dedication.
