Newly Awarded Program in Yemen

Washington, DC — IESC is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a major sub grant from Land O’Lakes International Development for the five year Yemen Competitive Agriculture Systems for High Value Crops (CASH) Program. The $24.5 million CASH Program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under a Cooperative Agreement with the Volunteers for Economic Growth Alliance (VEGA).
The CASH Program’s overall goal is enhancing food security for Yemenis by creating sustainable market systems and reducing poverty in rural areas of Yemen. By working to create strong, sustainable and commercially profitable markets for Yemeni coffee, honey, horticulture, livestock and handicrafts, CASH aims to increase incomes and food security for Yemeni citizens, particularly women.
IESC’s component of the CASH program is two-fold: access to finance and market access and information. Over the course of the program, IESC will work to leverage additional capital for investment in agriculture and the above value chains, while working with Yemeni and regional partners to create lasting finance products for rural Yemeni citizens. Additionally, IESC will work with Yemeni and regional partners to promote collaboration among Yemeni export stakeholders, improve market information systems as well as promote regional and international trade linkages.
Other CASH implementing partners include Coffee Quality Institute and Aid to Artisans. IESC will operate out of Land O’Lakes International Development’s office in Sana’a, Yemen.
