IESC Project Director Appointed President of Tunisian American Friendship Association
March 13, 2013 – IESC project director in Tunisia, Rym Ayari, has been appointed president of the Tunisian American Friendship Association (TAFA). The Association was founded in 1957 to promote scientific, technological, cultural, and political cooperation between the United States and Tunisia. Ms. Ayari’s appointment is well-deserved recognition for her successful efforts over the past 15 years to build economic linkages between enterprises in the United States and Tunisia, and to support the development of a vibrant small and medium enterprise sector in Tunisia.
Ms. Ayari is currently the Chief of Party for IESC’s Tunisia SME Project, a two-year $1.2 million economic development funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) that seeks to boost Tunisian exports and promote broad-based economic growth by supporting the development of small business development centers and providing help to export-ready or near export-ready firms in the organic food, textile and clothing, business development services, and hospitality sectors.
