Former IESC President Spencer T. King Retires from Board
After retiring as President and CEO a little over two years ago, Spencer King has stepped down from the Board of Directors. As President of IESC (2003-2010), Spencer spearheaded transformation in our funding sources as well as the strategic move from Stamford, CT to Washington, DC He also led key organizational changes to make IESC a stronger and more competitive organization. Through it all, his leadership and dedication to IESC’s mission worldwide ensured the organization’s continued success through this transition.
Board Chair Don Taggart commented on Spencer’s invaluable contributions to IESC: ‘As the current Chairman of the Board of IESC, I want to tell you how much we have all valued your contributions over the many years to our organization. Indeed, you have been the face of IESC for well over a decade. Beginning with your work with IESC in Costa Rica, as Chief of Party in Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Egypt, and having had the vision to include two additional practice areas’IT (Geekcorps) and Financial Services, you led very successful and important field projects and gained the necessary experience to lead IESC to become the organization it is today.’
Current President/CEO Tom Miller echoed Taggart’s high praise of Spencer’s tenure and expressed his deep gratitude for his dedication and vision. All of Spencer’s friends and colleagues at IESC wish him all the best.
