IESC’s 2023 Annual Report
IESC is pleased to share our 2023 Annual Report, which highlights our work catalyzing private sector growth and creating economic opportunity—work that has helped people to improve their lives across the economically developing world.
2023 marked the beginning of a new era for IESC. We launched our new name, Improving Economies for Stronger Communities, which keeps the IESC acronym and embraces our history, while also reflecting the IESC of today.
This report highlights our programs, people, and impact. We broadened our efforts in workforce development, entrepreneurship, and youth in North Macedonia and Djibouti, advanced trade facilitation in Latin America, and continued to support small businesses and farmers to spur growth in Vietnam, Africa, and Sri Lanka. We also launched new multi-country agriculture programs in Africa and the Caribbean, expanding our support of agriculture-led growth. Across all our programs in 2023, we supported more than 60,000 individuals, 9,000 enterprises, and 250 public institutions. We facilitated more than 17,000 new or better jobs, $26 million in financing and investment, and $403 million in sales.
The results we delivered in 2023 would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our funders and donors, partners, collaborators, volunteers, consultants, staff, and Board of Directors. Thank you for your continued support as we address the complex challenges facing the world today and in the future.
